Update
I'M BACK!!!!! It's been a while since I've blogged. First I was busy trying to get the house straightened out before the HMIC returned. Then he got here and now we've all been adjusting. I would of loved to have shown you some great homecoming pics but I have NONE. His time got changed a few times. Let's just say it went from 9 pm to 2-3 am. Even then we didn't make it on time. I had the kids go to bed early and told them I would wake them when it was time to go. We got up around 1 and started getting ready. At 1:40 the HMIC called to see where we were at. We were still at home. (When are the marines ever early or on time.) So we hurried up to go pick him up no camera no nothing. Since his return everyone has been adjusting. The kids in their own ways and bedtimes have changed as well. I didn't think the older boys missed him much but they did. The little big boy is coming out of his shell. He's becoming his old self again, more outgoing and talkative. The little diva is getting to know her father. As for me I'm trying not to complain about the mess (I threw it all in the half bath) for now. I'm also adjusting to a new sleeping pattern. There has been no more UFC fights to referee. Just having someone else to hand the kids over to has been nice. I've even had a few naps with no interruptions (kids fighting, kids crying, kids yelling). As for the HMIC he's adjusting. I'm sure we're alot to take in at times. The level of noise here is always above average. He says the kids have all changed and he's glad to be home. Things around here should go back to normal in a few weeks at least our normal.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Lately I've been very neglectful here. We're in the single digits of the countdown. Trying to finish alot of last minute things. Some of the projects got kicked to the curb. The house is starting to feel more like a home. The other day I worked on the laundry room. I should've took a before picture but I got started and forgot. Here's the after.
Not beautiful but cleaned up. The shelf holds alot of my extra stuff. Now I take and add when I need to.
This room also holds my Christmas decorations.
Like always my helper kept running away.
The laundry room is checked off my list. Next???

A little something
I've told you how I don't get roses. The other day I received my kind of flowers.
Now I just have to try to figure it out. Let's hope that it's the machine and not me. This time I won't be able to blame the sew machine. Saying it's to old, that's why it keeps messing up. Let's keep our fingers crossed that when I do attempt to use it nothing goes wrong.
Just to clear a few things up. Before the oh that's so nice of him or how sweet. We don't give each other gifts (ex. valentine's, birthdays, anniversary, mother's/father's day or christmas) on special days. However through out the year if we want something we normally get it. More the HMIC than myself. I tend to put it off saying the kids need something. So he will surprise me this way and just get it. That way if I didn't pay for it I won't have buyers remorse.
Wish me luck!!!

Crazy
It's October yyyeeeaaahhhh! That means this deployment is almost over. This one has felt like the longest one.
Not that I need anything more to tackle, I get a crazy idea. With the help of others you know the just do it's or you should's. I get the crazy idea to paint the living room. Instead of testing the paint on a board and putting it up on the wall. I go ahead and just test it out on the wall. Using as many cans of different color paint I can find in the garage. Who has time to go to Home Depot or think about it at 9 p.m..
The more I thought about it the more I didn't want to paint (really it was the next day). Why? Because if I paint the living room I would have to paint the kitchen and dining area also. The walls leading into those rooms are continuing walls and don't meet in a corner. Painting three areas wasn't really what I felt like doing.
(Lately I haven't felt like much of anything. Of course it's so like me. I will put things off till the last minute. Then when he's almost here I'll be running around like a chicken without a head. But then again I think I work better under pressure.)
Now the added pressure to paint the walls. I had already thrown seven different colors on it. Thank God someone told me you could just call the maintenance line and ask for touch up paint. They delivered a small can of touch up paint to my door. I fixed the mess I made and took that crazy idea of painting out of my head. Don't get me wrong I love color especially red. But I'm trying to change the decor a little step at a time. I would love to go for a more calming /less is more look. So far the only less is the wall color. This spring I would love to tackle white slipcovers for the sofas. Crazy I know. For now the wall is back to Iris (aka beige to exciting I know).
All is good for now until I step into my friend and neighbor's house and see their colored walls. But I'm embracing the Iris and the less part :)
