16

It has been sixteen years since I had the HMIC driving me up and down the freeway to get some sleep. Sixteen years ago I had no idea how my life was about to change. Ready or Not I was about to be a mother. We were about to start the toughest job of our life. My first born turned sixteen.  I can still look at him and see my baby. To me it was just yesterday that I was being told I would have my baby by six and had him at 5:59. To me it hasn't felt like sixteen years and to think that in two he can leave. Just the thought of that makes me want to cry. But for now I still have a few more years with him. I am very proud of him. He always has good grades. He's not the one I ever have to worry about. He has a good head on his shoulders. Most of the time he's polite and well mannered outside of the home. Yes he drives me crazy but he's a good kid. When I think of him he is my perfect baby. Not because the others weren't but because he was my first. In all the pictures and videos he was always perfect. Never dirty, nor a hair out of place and always smiling. Till this day he is always smiling. He would call his father "fauder". He thought he was a Power Ranger. He would always say he couldn't eat at Taco Bell because he wasn't a Mexican he was a Power Ranger. I have many memories of him and hope to have many more. Happy Birthday and I hope you enjoyed your day. Don't forget Big Mama(their beautiful nickname for me) loves you No Matter What.

I wasn't planning anything for his special day. Just us and maybe dinner out. But then he started saying he couldn't believe he was turning 16 and we weren't having him anything. So very last minute I invited some of his friends and our friends. Surprisingly mostly everyone showed up. Now I know the trick to having everyone show up. Give everyone a day notice and they don't have a chance to make plans. I wanted to take a picture of the cupcakes but didn't have a chance. I was told they were good. Remember I'm not a huge chocolate fan so to me they were just okay. My boys seemed to really enjoy them. Glad that day was over. Although I did let him know that as you get older you don't have as many parties. And when your alot older your lucky someone remembers.
