Monkey

There's no more monkeys jumping on the bed. But these kind of monkeys can be in the kitchen anytime. This monkey bread is so good and addicting. You can't just have a little piece. So if your on a diet don't make it. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Latest Addictions

I love these!!! I can eat a whole bag in a day. No wonder I'm not losing any weight.

Love me some sweet tea especially in this crazy heat we're having. During the summer it was never hot. Now it's fall and summer arrives. It's 90 two miles from the beach and no ocean breeze. We have no AC just ceiling fans. Hope it doesn't last to long.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL

It's football season once again. In this household we have Raiders, Eagles and Brett Favre fans. I won't say which one I am but I'm sure you can guess. Football is what we watch ALL day Sunday. Even if certain people fall asleep on the couch and call it resting their eyes. By now it's a given here something I've gotten used to. Remember I've been out numbered here for a (long, long, long) long time. At least I'm not alone anymore. We don't just watch the games, we also eat. Here's our favorite snack. We call it the HMIC's dip. Now you can find it on the can as well. If you like it spicier use the hot Rotel. We usually make one of each. Some around here like things very spicy. Others like myself would rather enoy their food than feel like their mouth is on fire.

Just cut up the cheese, toss in the can of Rotel and microwave for 4 minutes. Make sure to stir after 2 minutes. Then enjoy!!!!

GO BRETT GO!! (Oh I love that man think he's a great player.)

Almost Time

That's right it's almost time for the HMIC to head home. As of now it's less than thirty days. When we hit the thirty day mark I made a list of things to do before he returns. Thanks to my wild animals kids this deployment has flown by. Wasn't sure I or they were gonna make it at times but we're all still in one piece. I put together a list of things that need to get done before he gets here. There's over thirty things on my list and less than thirty days to go. Since I've made this list I have added a few more. Let me tell you this week I really didn't accomplish much of anything. Time to put myself in gear!!

*So why am I still sitting here. I should get my butt up and get going. It's not like the list is going to do itself.

Slipcovers and Chairs

My dining room received a little change. One tiny small change that gives it a different look. I found these chairs with the help of my boyfriend Craig. Craig is always ready to look for things I want need. If I wait a while he always finds what I'm looking for. These chairs were ten a piece. If you would like to date Craig as well I don't mind. After all I'm married myself so who am I to tell him not to see other people.

I knew I didn't want to try upholstering them myself. The lady I bought them off attempted to do it then changed her mind. Thought about trying to make the slipcovers. Then I found these on the Wal-Mart website.  They were less than twenty-five for both. So why bother trying to do it myself.

My helper was busy bossing me around making sure I didn't mess up.

Around blog world I saw all kinds of ideas. After alot of thought I did the freeze paper stencil I had done on the lampshades. Except this time I used spray paint. I think that worked out best. *Note to self make sure it's not windy when you use spraypaint

These numbers have meaning to us. They weren't just some random numbers I picked. I went with our wedding date. This way I know the HMIC won't forget it.

Here they are the final product. At first I wasn't feeling the chairs but now I like them.

Yes I know the rug is to small for the table. The one I had under the table had to be used somewhere else when we moved here. Someday I will change it. OH CRAIG....

Storage

There's a few things I hate running out of. One of them is soap along with toilet paper and paper towels. My storage space is limited. We are busting at the seams here. When I saw this vase for five dollars at Wally World it gave me an idea.

Now I have an accessible and storage solution.

Back to the Room

I got a little side tracked with the room. Where was I? Since I gave the Pre-Teen all of the furniture in the Little Big Boy's room, he was left with none. Good thing I had this dresser in my closet and the bookcase was in the Pre-Teen's room. This is part of the Teenager's first bedroom set. We still have the bed but it's in Texas. Yup I have a storage full of crap back home. You never know what I might end up needing when we FINALLY have a permanent home. Although I'm thinking of painting the furniture. But for now it will stay like this.

Roses

Some people get roses and I get appliances. Isn't it beautiful so shiny and red. Someone has scored extra points.

Roses are nice to get every now and then. But I would much rather have something that will last me a lot longer than a week. I LOVE getting things for my home. I also LOVE the HMIC for surprising me.

16

It has been sixteen years since I had the HMIC driving me up and down the freeway to get some sleep. Sixteen years ago I had no idea how my life was about to change. Ready or Not I was about to be a mother. We were about to start the toughest job of our life. My first born turned sixteen.  I can still look at him and see my baby. To me it was just yesterday that I was being told I would have my baby by six and had him at 5:59. To me it hasn't felt like sixteen years and to think that in two he can leave. Just the thought of that makes me want to cry. But for now I still have a few more years with him. I am very proud of him. He always has good grades. He's not the one I ever have to worry about. He has a good head on his shoulders. Most of the time he's polite and well mannered outside of the home. Yes he drives me crazy but he's a good kid. When I think of him he is my perfect baby. Not because the others weren't but because he was my first. In all the pictures and videos he was always perfect. Never dirty, nor a hair out of place and always smiling. Till this day he is always smiling. He would call his father "fauder". He thought he was a Power Ranger. He would always say he couldn't eat at Taco Bell because he wasn't a Mexican he was a Power Ranger. I have many memories of him and hope to have many more. Happy Birthday and I hope you enjoyed your day. Don't forget Big Mama(their beautiful nickname for me) loves you No Matter What.

I wasn't planning anything for his special day. Just us and maybe dinner out. But then he started saying he couldn't believe he was turning 16 and we weren't having him anything. So very last minute I invited some of his friends and our friends. Surprisingly mostly everyone showed up. Now I know the trick to having everyone show up. Give everyone a day notice and they don't have a chance to make plans. I wanted to take a picture of the cupcakes but didn't have a chance. I was told they were good. Remember I'm not a huge chocolate fan so to me they were just okay. My boys seemed to really enjoy them. Glad that day was over. Although I did let him know that as you get older you don't have as many parties. And when your alot older your lucky someone remembers.

Wanna Be Slipcover

Still in the Little Big Boy's room. My boys hate using their flat sheet. They only use the comforter and never put the flat sheet on. Sometimes I make panels out of them. This time I already had some panels that I used a while back. I had this wing chair that I needed to find a place for. Good thing I had some extra space in the Little Big Boy's room. Now I have a place to sit when I read to him at night. The chair needs to be cleaned and I bought it with the hopes of recovering it someday. That day still hasn't gotten here. Then I thought why not try to make a slipcover with the sheet. Remember this was only my third time sewing. I didn't have enough fabric so I used some other material I had. It's not perfect at all. If I didn't have two little helpers to take up my time I would of took it apart and tried again. But for now it will have to work. Maybe later when theHMIC returns(less than 40 days) I will try to make another one. For now it will do the job.

What A Deal

The bedding for the Little Big Boy's room was a great deal. It was marked down to $35.99 for the comforter set.

At JC Penny's you can combine a coupon with their survey discount. Thanks to the nice cashier lady who made me aware of that. Good thing seeing that I had a $10 off coupon and my 15% from taking their survey. That brought my grand total for bedding to twenty-one and change.

Don't you love a good deal?

Painted Bed

Here's the Little Big Boy's new bed. At least new to him. My budget for his bed was twenty-five dollars that's it. Kept an eye on the yardsales and craigslist. I almost blew my budget and took it up to fifty. This bed had been on craigslist for twenty-five but I knew I would have to paint it. So bed plus paint would take me over my budget. Then when I almost went for a fifty dollar bed the price went down. Here is my ten dollar find.

All it needed was a good cleaning and some paint.

Bed plus paint equals under budget.

Labor Day

This Labor Day I'm doing alot of labor. I'm busy putting the Little Big Boy's room together. His room was fine before but then we took all his furniture out. He was left with a mattress on the floor. That wasn't going to work. Here's a look at what I'm working with.
Plus a very active distraction.

Home Tour MB

Let me show you the destination of the amoire and the framed plates. This is what I see from my bed. The amoire was the first piece of real furniture we bought. The chairs were a craigslist find.

The other side of the room house our bed. I absolutely love this bed. Bought it a few years back in Texas. After eyeing it for almost a year. Our first bed was my teenage bed I brought with me when we got married. I'm sure glad we were both smaller couldn't imagine fitting into a full ever again. After five years we update to a queen(Only because at the time I was working at a furniture store and got an awesome discount). As for the furniture it was what we could afford at the time. Before the little big boy came along we decided we need something bigger(That's probably because we got bigger). As for that bed I eyed it for a while I didn't know if I wanted to spend the money on it. Finally decided to buy what we wanted we could FINALLY afford to buy something nice. With the new bed came new bedding.  I didn't have to go with a cheap comforter set. We bought what we wanted and all the different pieces to the bedding.

When you look into my room all you see is this bed. When I look into my room I see us having come a long way from ramen noodles butasandwiches(that's a sandwich with everything but the ham and cheese). My bedroom is my favorite room in the house for now.

HMIC's Area

Now I told you I had other plans for the HMIC's space. I was thinking something more like this. Don't you just love Pottery Barn?!

How about in black? I think the black is more masculine for his space.

Obviously this is so NOT in my budget. That's where the yard sales/Internet come in. I know I've told you about the yard sale site for our base. There was a listing for this desk. Contacted the seller and now it's mine. I was sooo happy to here of all the no shows he had. Not good for him but great for me. Also I'm glad his wife was making him sell it because they have no room in the new house. Thank you wifey!

What do you think? I think it's pretty close don't you. I'm thinking it might even be maybe just an older model. Look at the legs they look identical.

Here's the best part!! It was mine for only fifty bucks. Great deal, I know. Now what color to paint it? As for the chair I'm still working on that.

Where I Blog

Over at the Centsational Girl she is having a Where You Blog Party! Thought I'd join in and show you where I blog from.
Can't believe I'm actually showing you the mess I blog from. This spot is designated to be the HMIC's office/I love me area. A place he can call his own with all his plaques and stuff. (Why am I lying to you it's a place I can throw all his junk and not deal with it laying around the house. I know I'm such a loving wife.) I haven't started it yet since I know I still have sometime. So for now it's a mess, holds alot of different things, and is where I am blogging from. I was going to clean it all up to make it nice and pretty but I've got other projects to do. Maybe next time!

This is where I'm suppose to blog from. As you can see it's a mess and has no room for my laptop. That's on my to do list clean office/closet.
