no more slips and a rash....

The little diva got herself a pair of princess shoes. Poor thing she kept sliding all over the place. So how do you help a princess stay on her feet?

You get your handy dandy glue gun of course. I just put some on the bottom of her shoes and problem solved. {All though depending on the color of your floors and your princess there might be skid marks all over the place. Good thing the queen doesn't mind cleaning up after her princess.} Now she can continue to be the pretty little princess up to no good.

On another note. This past weekend I went to a passion party. This was my first one. They had me try some stuff on my lips. To my surprise it burned instead of tingle. Well it wasn't suppose to do that. I ended up with a rash on my lips. My lips felt extremely chapped and dry. The rash went away but my lips are now peeling, very irritated and itchy. Never again will I put something on my lips that was meant for another place.

kitchen...

Here's what my kitchen currently looks like.

It still needs lots of work. The cabinets might or might not stay the same color {more like a might not}. Right now there's a temporary island. Later I want one built with cabinets and a butcher block top.

I HATE the paint color in there. Who would paint it an avocado/bugger color? Well that's the color of it now. I'm trying really hard to live with it for a while. Nothing seems to go in there in terms of decor. I'm not feeling the kitchen. It's just not me. For the next year I'm going to try to live with the house as is. That way I'm sure of what I want and my handyman will be here. There's no dining room here so the kitchen works as both.

Nothing exciting in the kitchen it's just a kitchen. It gets the job done. Here's a few more angles.

It's looking to country. I need to change it up to be more eclectic. Maybe a modern country?

quick solution...

The kitchen set up was not working for me. I needed more counter space. My plan is to have an island built, a more custom looking one. That's not going to happen anytime soon. My handyman aka HMIC is missing in action. Till then I needed a quick fix. Here's a picture of the kitchen without an island.

Pay no attention to the mess in the background. That's what it normally looks like after breakfast. As you can see there's a big empty space. That space calls for something don't you agree. I got on the Internet and found my temporary solution.

My temporary solution arrived. Time to put it together. Hired free help {aka teenager that does nothing but sleep, who shouldn't mess it up and could probably figure it out if he put his phone down} to do the work.

The job ended up taking two teenagers, a leveler and a complaining mom. Next week I'll show you the final product as well as the kitchen.

people.....

Don't you hate people these days? I hate when someone tells me something and does another. Don't tell me you will be here Thursday morning at 9 then don't show. Don't you think I'm waiting or I made other plans to accommodate you. Let's just say I'm a little pissed since it's NOW 11:30  and still no call or show. The kids room was to be painted this morning. I still had no clue yesterday what I was doing in there. Yesterday I went and got more paint samples.

Later that night I picked a color and went for the paint. Then I put the kids to bed in my room just in case they weren't up by 9. So I didn't sleep good, I got up early, cleaned up and moved all the furniture in the room.

All for what? NOTHING. For a no show. Maybe I'll just do it myself and pay myself. People now a days have no respect for other people. Maybe that's part of what's wrong in the world now a days.

*This is just me ranting and raving.

On another note. I picked this basket up at a yardsale. The basket had ten mason jars in it. The man wanted two dollars for the basket and jars. I only wanted the basket but for that deal who could resist. I wanted to use the basket in alot of different areas. For now I'm using it to hold my cutting boards.

Lost

What to do in the littles room? I'm sooo confused when it comes to their room. The little diva is no longer in her crib, she's in a big girl bed. Now I have the little big boy's and the little diva's furniture all in one room. When I pictured decorating a room for her I pictured princess and very girlie. But that's not my reality. I have to decorate a comb room for girl and boy. Let me tell you its hard. I keep having ideas and buying stuff. Then I don't really feel it so I change my mind. Their walls are get ridiculous. The little big boy wanted half pink and blue. So I gave it a try.

That's one wall.

There's the other wall. I don't think I'm doing pink and blue. Chevron strips on the wall was another idea. I've been on pinterest looking for ideas. Hoping something will pop out and give me the inspiration or direction to go. So far I have nothing. There's new bedding on the beds and I'm not sure I like them. There's art work for the walls and I'm not feeling it. Why is it so hard? Any ideas?

when pigs fly

Who says there's no such thing as a flying pig. There's one in my kitchen right now.

This little piggy doesn't belong to me. I'm just pigsitting for the day. She's part of my sister's wild room idea. My sister is redecorating here bedroom. She's doing a mexican/bohemian/funky/wild theme. We're going to have to wait and see how it all comes together. Right now I have no idea what to expect.

everything room take two...

On the other side of the family room is my craft area and play table. I really wanted to use the guest house as a craft studio but it didn't fly with the HMIC. So I'm stuck with a corner of the room.

Remember the HMIC's desk that I wanted to paint black. Well he decided he doesn't want it. So for now I'm going to use it till I come up with what I want to do. The chair is in the guest house (I'm to lazy to go get it). I also need another self but we only have one home improvement store here and they're all out. From city living to small town living I'm still trying to get used to it.

As you can see I share my side with the littles. They have their play table and sofa on this side of the room. There you have it our family room (aka play room) in the new house.

everything room....

This is our everything room. We watch TV, the kids play and store all their toys here and I get a little corner for myself. When we moved here this room was going to be the teenagers bedroom. I'm so glad I changed my mind. It's working out great as our family room. The littles are contained here for the most part.

Like I said the kids are always in here. They wouldn't stay away long enough to take the picture. We have our craigslist sofa, loveseat and chairs in here. The coffee and end tables were a goodwill find. I think they might be getting a paint lift soon. The rug is from HD. The play table I picked up at the Pottery Barn outlet as well as the red bookshelf. The green cubbies were a yardsale find. There's no window treatment in here yet. I'm not sure what I want.

Here's the scene behind the sofa. It's always a mess. Everything used to be organized now it's just thrown wherever.

The cubbies hold toys and books. The beautiful art was made by the kids. The sign to warn everyone as they enter. This way it's at there own risk.

Here's the other wall. The dresser was a pendleton yardsale find. It holds alot of crap. I need to organize it but that's for another year day. The wall only holds the TV for now. Eventually I want to make it a picture wall. And once again there's our model in the picture. Well there you have it half of the everything room. Next time I will show you the other half. Right now I have to go help the teenager look and kill a spider in his room. He's a 220lb boy acting like a baby.

hair affairs

The little diva went in for her first haircut. She hardly has any so it's not to noticeable. The little big boy wanted one too. We had to compromise. He says it's way to hot here and his hair is always hot. So he wanted it all gone as for me I'm not ready.

BEFORE

AFTER

Time for the big test to see if he can still whip his hair back and forth. The little diva knows better she's standing back it can get dangerous.

While we're on the hair subject I'm gonna add this in here. My sister is probably going to kill me but I have to show you.

What not to get!! She asked for dark color and he took it as purple. My sister is soo nice she didn't say anything. If it was me there would of been a big problem. Later we convinced her to go back and have it fixed. I still can't believe he let her leave like that.

update with a little color

Hope you all had a great 4th of July. We got up early and headed out to the parade. To see a whole twenty if that cars pass by. The rest was spent at the park swimming and eating.

Today everyone is just bumming around trying to recuperate. I'm wishing I could just sleep but my two bf's make it hard to do.

Here's a little table I spray painted the other day. I picked it up at a yard sale for five bucks. Just the table the kid I already had laying around. I spray painted it a nice yellow and wallah a cute little table. I'm thinking it needs some more paint. My impatient self was trying to spray paint on a windy day. {*note to self don't spray paint on windy days}  But whose looking with the magazines and little tray you can't really tell.

little hands....

How can something so little and cute be so destructive. Nothing is safe around here.

Now someone is out of luck and I'm gonna be out some money.
