other side

The other side of my bedroom doesn't really have alot going on. The sofa was bought for another room but ended up in here for now. The stars I bought at HEB (the main grocery store in TX) a while back.

What do you think? I keep messing with the placement. I'm not sure which way I like better.

What a difference some drapes and a rug make.

The drapes are just painters drop cloths from Home Depot. As for the rug you guys know I got from Lowes for a killer deal.

the winner is...

The zebra print rugs were nice but to busy. Here's the winner plain and simple.

You can't really tell it's two 5x7 rugs. Later I'm going to stitch them together. For now they're just fine.

How does this kid get soo messy everyday? And why does she think she can throw her plate on the floor when she's done? Someone needs to tell her that's not nice. Good thing I love this girl if not she'd be a goner.

Entry Way

Now that you've seen both walls here's what the space looks like.

Entry Way- Part 2

The wonderful builders thought it be a good idea to put a huge circuit box in the entry way. Why didn't they put it in a closet or laundry area? Here it is in all it's glory big and ugly.

BEFORE

Good thing I have a shutter. It's the perfect size. Now it's gone no more ugly circuit box.

AFTER

I've also add a chair to the entry way. Right now the chair is a little big in scale. When I find a smaller one at a good price I'll change it out. For now it does the job. I need somewhere to sit and put the Littles shoes on. Recently the chair's been serving another purpose. It's my reading chair. I know I can sit anywhere else in the house but I pick this area. Normally no one is there it's the perfect spot to hide catch my breath or go through a magazine.

There you have it! The other wall in the entry way.

Rugs

We've all heard the news all over blogworld. The thirty-four seventeen dollar rugs at Lowes is a great buy. After thinking about it for a few days and needing a rug for my room I picked some up. First I called to make sure they had some. I needed two and that's all they had. The nearest Lowes is sixty miles away. Good thing I'm used to driving around being an ex-Cali girl. I paid for them and had them set them aside. Thanks to the military discount they were fifteen something. Then the Little Diva and I went on a road trip.

When I got there I decided to look around. That way I could see what else I could buy they carry. I really wanted to see the other two rugs that were also on sale. Then I turned the corner and wallah. These pretty babies were screaming my name.

I really wanted a jute rug for my bedroom. But I didn't want to pay a pretty penny for one.  Well what was on clearance and calling my name? These 5x7 jute rugs. Not only are they perfect but they're marked for $15.95. That's right!! You read it right! But wait it gets better. I purchased two to make it one big rug. When I went to checkout the rugs rang up at (are you ready for this) $7.98. I know I was so excited. Is that a deal or what.

So hurry run to your Lowes or call to see if they have any available. The item number is #0178319 good luck. Now my big problem is which ones to use. As you can see I brought them all home. I'll let you know which ones I pick.

Entry Way- Part 1

Here's what you see when you walk in the door. The dresser I had outside in the last house found a home inside. I tried it outside for a while but the space is ALOT smaller and it felt cramp. Inside was a better fit in this house. It houses the water shoes, floaties and a few other items.

I added a dish to catch my current sunglasses and keys. Sunglasses are a MUST here.

On the side of the dresser I added these hooks. This way I can hang my bag and other items I might need.

A basket for the shoes. I'm trying to make a NO SHOES IN THE HOUSE rule here. It works most of the time. Sometimes someone forgets and you can tell. Excuse the dirty floor in the pic. These floors are a nightmare to keep clean. I'll show you why later.

These hanging baskets hold the HMIC's overflow of keys and extra sunglasses. Don't know why the man has soo many keys. Anytime I find a key I just put it in the basket. We've had them for a long time now (9 yrs). Anytime he's looking for a key he goes there first before asking me "have you seen my keys". I'm not in love with the baskets at all and several times I've thought about getting rid of them. But they work so well for their purpose so they're keepers.



As far as the shoe basket goes....It might need a new home....Something tells me it might not work out in it's current location....What do you think?

This Week

This week was my anniversary and the HMIC's birthday. We didn't celebrate. Kind of hard when you're in two different locations. However I did buy us an anniversary gift. Saw this pic and they kept mooing at me. So home they came with me. Now they moo here all the time.

Happy 18th Anniversary Mike! Thanks for putting up with all my craziness, knowing my moods and loving me still. I wouldn't change a thing or have done things differently. Everything has brought us to where we are today. I'm happy to say that I'm still in love with you and your my best friend.

The HMIC turned 37 this week also. Happy Birthday to you!! Your like fine wine you get better with age. We always celebrate even when he's not around. This year instead of baking a cake we went out for treats. This way we celebrated and did something off our summer list.

It's a new place in town with treats. The icing was good but the cupcake not so good. Don't think we'll be going back.

The treats left our mouths dry. I wasn't about to spend 3-4 dollars per drink there. Happy hour it is.

The cool drinks were a nice treat for this 100+ weather. Have I mentioned that I'm melting here. In all it's been a good week so far. Hope ya'll are having a good week too.

2011 Summer List

We finally put our summer list together. Now it's time to try to enjoy the summer and not go crazy. Wish us luck.

Moved

Was that a random post yesterday or what? Yes, I've moved. I'm no longer in cooler weather California. Now I'm in HOT weather Texas. Did I mention HOT? It's so hot here I think I might melt. We've been here for a little over a month now. I'm still trying to figure out where to put what. Only a few rooms are done and some not at all. I have a shed full of crap I still have to go through. The move was a nightmare. NEVER again will I move myself. I've never done a self move. The military always moves us. All I do is watch someone else pack everything then someone comes for it all. This time we weren't entitled a move yet. Since the HMIC wasn't being transferred or anything. We packed ourselves and moved ourselves. We moved 18,000+ lbs of crap and the garage didn't even make this move. Thanks to friends who let us store stuff in their garages and for the ones that took crap that didn't fit. Glad it's all over with and I don't plan on moving anytime soon. The only bad thing is the HMIC still has a year left. For now it's the kids and I in Texas. He gets to stay in the nicer weather for a while. I tell him it's like a vacation away from all this chaos. I know a whole year but we just see it as another deployment except this time he can come visit.

What to do

What do you do? When your home alone...The house is a mess...You have a mountain of laundry...Your trying to get settled in...Well you take a LONG bath...Have a coke and a smile.....Of course.....
